This position is responsible for proactively leading the Enterprise Architecture function and ensures the provision of enterprise business application, process and technical expertise through practically applying existing, new and emerging technologies to new and evolving business and operating models. They are responsible for managing post-sale technical activities and support to Sales teams during presentations and demonstrations of company products and services, particularly MS offerings.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the evolution of the Enterprise Architecture (EA) function.

  • May participate with the sales team in proactively driving the presales process with clients. This may include conducting meetings, writing proposals, proposing solutions and delivering presentations.

  • Contribute to the vision, goals, and measures of success for the Enterprise Architecture function, recognizing the current team maturity and skills of the team members.

  • Support Enterprise Architects with large complex solution design with clients and lead/support the internal service and technical teams to enable business outcome and requirements mapping.

  • Integrate services, process, applications, data, technology through a design process across multiple domains, delivery units or geography.

  • Deepen partnership relationships with client key stakeholders, building new relationships, especially with clients with a services-related outcome.

  • Contribute to the knowledge base of NTT’s development and services by sharing best practices with internal teams and clients.

  • Share best practices, lessons learned and constantly update the enterprise architecture based on changing technologies, and knowledge related to recent, current and upcoming vendor products and solutions.

  • Manage the assignment of resources to necessary priorities to meet client and business strategic needs.

  • Coach/mentor and provide leadership to engage with other team members and act as advisor and decision maker in solution design situations.

  • Interpret, influence and develop IT strategies, as well as implementing the execution of the strategies.

  • Define architectural principles and apply them to influence architectural outcomes and guide governance.

  • Create, refine, and oversee execution of the processes of the Enterprise Architecture function, including documenting processes, building support for points of interaction, and ensuring the deliverables match the expectations and timing needed by partners and stakeholders.

  • Contribute to the management of large application and technology portfolios, using frameworks, lifecycle and various other models and tools.

  • Develop both strategic and solution architecture using the Enterprise Architecture domain abstraction.

  • Recommend and participate in the analysis, evaluation and development of enterprise long-term strategic and operating plans to ensure that the Enterprise Architecture objectives are consistent with the business’ long-term business objectives.

  • Define organisational service and product catalogues or acts as a formal interface to the product organisation, producing formalized inputs for product evolution.

  • Understand, influence and design organisation structures, capabilities, processes and operating models.

  • Measure the value of the efforts of the Enterprise Architecture function and present those measures to stakeholders within the business to earn buy in for the function and the funding it requires.

  • Provide timely and high-quality reports and briefings on architecture roadmap, strategic initiatives and architecture metrics to executive leadership.

Knowledge, Skills and Attributes:

  • Advanced knowledge of the methods and processes of an appropriate EA framework, e.g. TOGAF

  • Have a broad level of knowledge across Enterprise Architecture, Managed Services, Service Management consulting, and multiple solutions areas (Business Units), and across domains, delivery units, and geographies

  • Understand how technology solutions are influenced and affected by various business scenarios

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Strong and demonstrable systems thinking and strategic thinking skills. The ability to capture the key elements of a system into a simple abstraction that empowers good decisions.

  • Solid business financial skills. Demonstrable ability to perform cost benefit analysis and manage the budget of a team.

  • Strong business negotiation skills, influence, conflict resolution, and political savvy

  • Demonstrable leadership in Portfolio Management, Project Management and Enterprise Change Management

  • Advanced knowledge of infrastructure strategies including Infrastructure-as-a-Service, Platform-as-a-Service, security, network, compute and storage, etc

  • Ability to translate complex technical terminology, concepts and issues in terms understandable to technical and non-technical management and staff

  • Current knowledge of industry best practices for architectural governance of cloud, Agile, DevSecOps, etc.

Academic Qualifications and Certifications:

  • Tertiary level – bachelor’s with moderate experience; or post-graduate degree with solid experience in a consulting capacity

  • Certification and expert knowledge of Enterprise Architecture methodologies (e.g. TOGAF, Zachman, SOA,.); preference in TOGAF, additional SOA will be considered as an asset

  • Certification and expert knowledge of IT Service Management methodologies (ITIL, COBIT, etc.)

  • Scaled Agile certification advantageous

Required Experience:

  • Established technical leadership experience in an enterprise environment, managing people, processes and budgets to achieve corporate and divisional objectives

  • Demonstrable experience with and understanding of the deliverables and value proposition of Enterprise Architecture

  • Significant strategic planning experience

  • Proven client engagement and consulting experience coupled with strong experience in change management and the ability to recognise opportunities for future business

  • Significant experience in integrating the solution for the project with the business domain, enterprise concerns, industry standards, established patterns, and best practices

  • Business development and pre-sales experience

  • Deep technical background

  • Significant knowledge and understanding of IT industry environment and business needs, combined with strong understanding of business process, applications and infrastructure architecture

  • Vertical knowledge of the industry to which the EA will be aligned

  • An expert at “selling upwards”

  • Significant experience as a people and resource manager
