This position requires high degree of ship stowage planning knowledge and ability to independently appraise vessel stowage capabilities. Additionally this position requires high analytical skills, multi-tasking abilities, abilities to work independently and strong focus to cope and deliver efficiently and effectively.
KEY RESULT AREAS:
To deliver best in class stowage through:
Design and Develop stowage plan to maximize crane intensity for each class of vessels
Develop & deliver programs for sustained higher crane productivity utilizing cycling, twin picks or tandem lifts
Provide Preplan for each vessel within the agreed timeframe, taking into the account of the complexity and variable cargo presentation
Turnaround vessel in the shortest period to reduce port time
Maximize vessel profile resulting in revenue increase
Eliminate unproductive moves, like rehandle or overstow etc
Maximize revenue cargo and eliminate unnecessary deadweight example ballast
Ensures stowage of vessels’ in compliance to International and in –house regulations
Prepare of preplan stowage for vessel loading at individual ports and provide specific stowage instruction to satisfy optimum stowage.
Liaise with local on the stowage constraints and DG department on restriction or regulation.
Fully understand APL DG restriction policies and apply accordingly with compliance to the IMDG code, vessel DOC and APL DG policy.
Deliver best in class stowage plan
Accountable to department goal of securing higher crane intensity and productivity
Maximize vessel loadable capacity
Attain Stowage KPIs as required by Departmental Head
Ensure stowage compliance with International, State and in-house rules
Achieve best stow plan and reduce rehandlings with co-ordination from cargo, Eops and Network
Review vessels in service for performance, capacity, suitability in deployment with other departments
Study present and future, adhoc feasibility of vessels, trade pattern as specified by Supervisors.
Manage large vessels of 7000 Teus and above
- Diploma in Nautical Studies or equivalent
Min 3 years in Executive (container shipping) / Sea Going Officer’s position plus
Min 5 year stowage planning in a shipping company
Min 2 years of Ship Planning of large container vessels beyond 7000 Teus vessels
Computer literate and competent in MS Office applications
Stowage Planning tools (StowMan/MAC3) knowledge
Ability to learn new systems quickly.
Strong team player with high collaboration skills
Ability to manage small team of stowage planners
Strong in communication skills – both written and spoken – to present problem, concepts and solutions effectively.
High degree to organization, planning & time management skills.
Resourceful, independent and capable of critical thinking.
Knowledge of D & H cargo acceptance, Fleet scheduling & Vessel buildup for stowage planning is a good to have
