SUMMARY

This role reports to the Global Head, Corporate Communications. He/she will be responsible for developing and implementing messaging for APL. He/she will work on all aspects of external communications planning and implementation and support internal communications.

KEY DUTIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Develop and implement external communication plans with consistent and compelling messages/themes

  • Serve as one of company’s media contacts, manage and update media database and engage media

  • Develop and implement social media strategy, manage calendar, upload weekly posts, monitor comments made externally about APL and provide response or assistance as apt

  • Work closely with function/regions/countries in developing plans to support functional/global/regional communication needs

  • Produce communications material such as press releases, speeches, keynote presentations, award submissions, Q&As, memos to staff, and other material as necessary

  • Provide communications counsel to executives

  • Provide crisis communications support

  • Manage and post updated information on corporate website

  • Manage and recommend participation in industry award programmes worldwide

  • Assist in implementing organisational change management and communications

  • Support internal communications with timely uploading of media reports, Group newsletter and Corporate communications materials on the Corporate intranet

  • Ensure business compliance to brand management policies and brand style guide

  • Assist in organising corporate/vessel visits

  • Administer and coordinate corporate sponsorships

  • Organise and develop APL’s image and video stockpile

  • Other duties as assigned

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications, Journalism or a related field

Experiences

  • 6-8 years in public relations/corporate communications or journalism preferred. Candidates with 3-5 years of experience would be considered.

  • Prior experience in the shipping/logistics/transportation industry advantageous

  • Prior experience in media production preferred

  • Stakeholder management experience

  • Experience working with traditional and digital communication channels

  • Experience with engaging and influencing colleagues, at both peer and senior levels, across functions across APL across geographies

  • Experience in presenting cases and recommend solutions to senior staff in Corporate Communications team

  • Highly competent in written and spoken English and Mandarin

  • Ability to produce high quality written materials

  • Ability to work to tight deadlines

  • Confidence in engaging multiple level stakeholders

  • Team player and self-starter

  • Highly organised in a fast-paced environment; with the ability to prioritise and deal with multiple tasks; detail focused

  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office and ideally some experience in working with design programmes
