Job Description Summary

The Unison Harnesses and Sensors Sub-section Manager is a global leadership position. The sub-section manager provides overall leadership and administrative management for assigned personnel, fosters a multi-functional team environment, provides engineering support to customers, employing the latest technology while minimizing costs, satisfies the needs of Manufacturing, Quality, and Engineering processes to achieve maximum benefits, establishes and implements cost estimates, goals, plans, and policies, directs scheduling and design plans to achieve overall business needs, develops and maintain a productive work environment, promoting teamwork and cross-functional efforts to achieve and maintain Engineering excellence.

Job Description

Major duties

  • Lead business initiatives regarding design, test and manufacturing technology, quality, and productivity. Identify and promote the development of improved processes related to design, analysis, manufacturing, quality, and productivity.

  • Establish and monitor programs, plans and budgets to assure business needs are covered as well as customer satisfaction.

  • Ensure employees receive the training and guidance needed to increase their responsibilities and technical contributions

  • Establish and communicate the work-group goals that meet the needs of the business

  • Provide leadership and administrative management and define roles and responsibilities of assigned personnel. Conduct performance appraisals and participate in salary planning. Promote professional growth through timely performance feedback, coaching, and counseling.

  • Represent and promote department compliance activities. Serve as a focal point for all compliance issues within the department. Lead the department’s Compliance team.

  • Maintain ample awareness of technical efforts within the work group in order to assure technical excellence, timely completion of work and reviews, appropriate use of resources and consistency of methods across programs.

  • Assure communication of technical and business information between organizations and within the work group. Communicate technical, organizational, resource, and personnel issues to higher management.

  • Ensure procedures are established and adhered to, maintaining high-quality Engineering that conforms to Engineering Standards, Design Practices, and applicable Operating Procedures.

  • Implement Engineering and Drafting Standards and specifications consistent with GE needs, policies, and practices.

  • Provide leadership in furthering digitization process and programs.

  • Provide an effective and efficient service for all assigned organizations.

Minimum job requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • At least 5 years of experience in electrical harnesses/sensors design or similar

  • Solid contribution in a similar role or previous position

  • Excellent written, oral, and comprehension abilities in English and Spanish.

  • English skills: Must be able to maintain a normal day-to-day fluid conversation in English on any topic with few mistakes (mistakes that do not affect clear understanding). Must have fluency, rhythm, and sufficient self-confidence in the language to be able to handle meetings and conversations.

  • Demonstrated solid technical skills and experience aligned with the team’s scope

  • Point of contact between counterparts and GEIQ

  • Experienced in management of budgets, HC, and program approval.

  • Strong technical contributions to the team

  • Responsible for the follow-up and completion of programs

  • Experience coordinating relevant projects with greater autonomy/ownership

  • Experience managing high levels of conflict and labor issues

  • Demonstrated Project Management skills or the ability to document, plan, market, execute, control, close, and manage programs, projects, orders, activities, or systems.

  • Highly independent management of GE and Unison processes
