We are seeking an experienced Principal Geotechnical Engineerto join our Geotechnical team in Melbourne.

The purpose of this role is to provide senior technical/project leadership for our Southern Ground Engineering team. The role includes technical leadership, risk management, business development, mentoring and driving delivery excellence across all aspects of ground engineering.

You will take the lead in promoting the Ground Engineering section across Victoria and Tasmania, nurturing client relationships and pursuing market growth opportunities in a wide array of sectors. You will set clear direction regarding client focus and responsiveness and will help to ensure we can identify and anticipate client needs.

The role includes managing Jacobs’ risk on proposals and projects by undertaking Project Management, Project Engineering, Designated Project Executive (DPE), Technical Lead and Design Manager roles. You will undertake lead geotechnical or senior roles on projects/proposals of various size, including major transport infrastructure roles and deliver exceptional value.

You will effectively interact with the Ground Engineering leadership group in terms of developing geotechnical skills and in broadening the overall capabilities and service offering of the wider business. You will provide consistent leadership and role modelling of Jacobs’ core values, fostering an inclusive and diverse culture across the PU that embodies Jacobs’ Culture of Caring and prioritises the health and wellbeing of people.

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • Relevant qualification (Tertiary Degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering)

  • Experience in similar role. Work experience in consulting environment (preferred)

  • Locally based experience in Melbourne viewed highly

  • Team player, strong interpersonal and communications skills,

  • Proactive and business minded
