Responsibilities

 

Duties: The Technical Specialist - Electric Vehicle Controls Engineer at CNH Industrial America LLC in Livonia, MI will be responsible for Utility Light Tractor and Construction Equipment Electrification projects. The duties include leading algorithm development for thermal software, complete vehicle controls and charging controls which will be deployed in future CNHi medium and heavy utility tractors as well as construction equipment machines. Developing and integrating electrified drivetrain and supporting sub-systems' control strategies. Supporting creation of software and embedded control unit hardware requirements documentation and participate in software/hardware requirements reviews. Developing and reviewing software architectural design based on software and hardware requirements and ensuring traceability back to requirements. Developing controls algorithm for software unit feature designs based on architectural design and software requirements. Developing Model-In-Loop test plans to verify unit design implementation, performing MIL test and documenting results. Ensuring complete unit design test coverage and traceability. Developing Software description documentation to describe overall software architectural design and unit software feature designs. Supporting target ECU hardware selection process. Providing team progress updates to direct manager. Ensuring the use of engineering standards, methodologies, and global product development processes in engineering team's daily work. Practicing software development lifecycle methodologies including ISO-26262. Interfacing with Electrification Technology engineering team for HV/LV system performance & integration. Telecommuting permitted up to 2 days per week. Salary: $119,954- $139,700/year.

 

Qualifications

 

Minimum Requirements: Requires a Master's degree in Automobile Engineering, Vehicle Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field plus 5 years of experience as a Controls Engineer or related occupation. The 5 years of experience must include 5 years of experience with each of the following: 1) performing controls software and hardware-in-the-loop platform development; 2) performing controls algorithm calibration and validation using Vector CANape, ETAS Inca, ATI vision or similar software; 3) data analysis and validation using MATLAB and Simulink; 4) conducting vehicle and powertrain level testing; 5) reviewing engineering projects for compliance with engineering principles; and 6) planning and executing hybrid, EV, or conventional powertrain and OBD controls performance research and development activities.
