Position Summary:

The Senior Accountant is responsible for intercompany reconciliations, volume rebate calculations, and administering the corporate ProCard program. This individual will be responsible for understanding general accounting, creating account reconciliations, performing independent analysis, and leading projects. Significant organizational exposure through cross-functional work pertaining to SEC reporting, financial consolidations, and volume rebate contracts involving Legal, Sales, Marketing, and Plant Accounting Teams.

This role is primarily remote, with some office attendance required.

Principle Accountabilities:

  • Oversee the corporate intercompany reconciliation process, spanning 100+ locations and numerous financial systems. Record, reconcile, and clear monthly intercompany activity; investigate and resolve discrepancies.

  • Calculate volume rebates of varying complexity for national sales accounts. Clearly and confidently communicate with Sales, Marketing, and PCA Plant Accounting teams. Submit requests for payment processing.

  • Support general ledger systems, including active resolution of import errors and supporting user base consisting of controllers and accountants.

  • Utilize Oracle ARC system for balance sheet account reconciliations. Substantiate account balances with supporting documentation. Analyze and actively resolve variances.

  • Administer Corporate ProCard program, including credit card issuance, coding of accounting transactions, ensuring timely payment processing, and retaining evidence of monthly management review.

  • Serve as process owner leading various projects across the organization.

  • Provide technical expertise for general accounting practices across the enterprise.

  • Develop relationships with other business areas to engage and involve users in decision making processes.

  • Perform analysis and documentation to ensure compliance with internal control policies and procedures.

  • Various other routine and non-routine functions as assigned.

    Decision Making:

    The Senior Accountant is expected to work independently to resolve complex work assignments. Ideal candidates are highly self-motivated, professional, and capable of managing their work load and prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced corporate environment. Independent judgment may impact other departments and influence departmental strategic direction. The Senior Accountant identifies and implements opportunities for process improvements. This role coordinates a wide variety of sensitive and confidential data and ensures requests for action or information are addressed in an efficient and timely manner. The Senior Accountant coordinates projects across multiple disciplines.

    Position Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business. Five+ years of experience in Accounting, preferably in a decentralized environment.

  • Self-motivated, focused, and able to identify needs and implement solutions with minimal supervision.

  • Excellent analytical skills with strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to create alternative solutions and meet deadlines.

  • Positive attitude with excellent written and verbal communication skills is essential. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to network and build relationships with individuals of varying experience levels.

  • Demonstrated ability to streamline and automate complex processes.

  • Advanced working knowledge of PC applications including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. Ability to quickly learn and excel in financial systems, such as Oracle Financials and Oracle’s ARC tool.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple requests simultaneously.

  • Demonstrated ability to be efficient, innovative, and organized, with great attention to detail.

  • Previous experience working in a team environment is preferred, with a strong understanding of the importance of open communication and information sharing among co-workers.
