POSITION DESCRIPTION Early Childhood Leadership Instructor

INFORMATION Department: Generations Southeast Location of Work: Juneau, AK Salary Grade(s): G- 12/13 Hours of Work: M-F, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm Employment Category: Casual/As needed per scheduled courses

PURPOSE Early Childhood Leadership (ECL) Instructor to join Generations Southeast. The ECL Instructor will be responsible for developing curriculum and delivering in-person and virtual training. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Early Childhood Education (ECE), experience in leadership roles, and a demonstrated ability to inspire and guide future leaders in the field.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS Reports To: Generations Southeast Manager Supervises: N/A Liaison To: Internal, Regional, State, and Local Partners

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Develop and deliver high-quality instruction for courses in Early Childhood Leadership and related fields.
  • Design and implement engaging learning activities that promote critical thinking, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
  • Stay up to date on current research, trends, and best practices in Early Childhood Leadership and integrate them into course content.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching methods, including lectures, discussions, simulations, case studies, and guest speakers.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that celebrates diversity.
  • Advise and mentor students on their academic and professional development goals.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of the Early Childhood Leadership curriculum.
  • Develop and maintain training materials, including lesson plans, presentations, and instructional videos.
  • Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback to facilitate learning and skill development.
  • Collaborate with other instructors and staff to ensure consistency and effectiveness in training delivery.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance, and certification.

NECESSARY SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Developing and utilizing assessment strategies to measure student learning and program effectiveness.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to use educational technology tools to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Knowledge of current ECE curriculum frameworks, instructional methods, and assessment practices.
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles.
  • Patience, professionalism, and a passion for helping others succeed.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering effective curriculum for adult learners.
  • Proficiency in educational technology.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education, experience, skills)

  • Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working in leadership roles within Early Childhood Education settings.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (education, experience, skills)

  • Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a closely related field.
  • Experience teaching at the postsecondary level.

UNUSUAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OR RESTRICTIONS Most of the work is performed in a professional office setting and is sedentary, requiring routine walking, standing, bending, and carrying of items weighing less than 40 lbs. Travel on small aircraft or ferry may be required.
