The AWS Global Support team interacts with leading companies and believes that world-class support is critical to customer success. AWS Support also partners with a global list of customers that are building mission-critical applications on top of AWS services.

Are you a Senior Technologist with Operations experience, looking to impact how businesses achieve operational excellence at scale? As a Specialist Technical Account Manager (STAM), you’ll provide strategic guidance to customers across Strategic Industries on the use of AWS Management and Governance services and the implementation of Operations best practices to reduce operational risk.

Key job responsibilities

In this role, you'll leverage your extensive technical knowledge to ensure our customers' operations are flexible, scalable, and resilient on the AWS platform. As a trusted advisor, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring customer success as they migrate their workloads to the cloud, ensuring their operational excellence on AWS. This includes providing deep process and technical expertise to help customers overcome complex operational challenges. With your in-depth operations experience and knowledge, you'll guide customers in understanding and implementing best practices for operating in the cloud. This involves assisting customers in mitigating operational risks using scalable and cost-effective solutions on AWS. You'll have a broad scope of influence, working with C-Suite executives across multiple teams to shape strategies for leveraging appropriate processes and tooling, including AWS Management and Governance Tools, for Strategic AWS customers. Additionally, you'll develop content and conduct enablement sessions with customers, such as workshops and immersion days, to further enhance their operational capabilities.

As a Specialist Technical Account Manager (STAM), you'll play a crucial role in uplifting our overall operational excellence capabilities in Strategic Industries by enabling other AWS teams, including Technical Account Managers and Cloud Support Engineers and more. This is a post-sales advisory role within our Enterprise Support team, where you can further develop your technical, leadership, and consulting skills. A day in the life

In this deeply technical and consultative role, you will provide strategic people, process, and technology guidance to ensure enterprise support customers realize the benefits of AWS Management and Governance services. You will embed operational excellence from day one, while uplifting our overall operational excellence capabilities in the region by enabling other AWS teams, such as Technical Account Managers and Cloud Support Engineers. Partnering with TAMs, SAs, and service teams, you will offer customers AWS operations best practice guidance, ensuring they achieve operational excellence through effective utilization of AWS Management and Governance services.

Basic Qualifications

  • 7+ years of design/implementation/operations/consulting with distributed applications experience

  • Experience in internal enterprise or external customer-facing environment as a technical lead

  • Experience with AWS services or other cloud offerings

  • Experience in operations principles such as ITIL and DevOps.

  • Experience in operations capabilities such as incident, change and problem management; patch management; monitoring and logging; operations automation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of cloud operations, hybrid cloud environments and cloud migration projects at scale, particularly from an operational effectiveness and reliability perspective

  • Operations Certification such as ITIL.

  • AWS Certifications, e.g. AWS Solutions Architect Associate / Professional / Speciality highly desirable.

  • Internal enterprise experience working with a wide range of internal stakeholders on operations implementation or migration with a company-wide impact.

  • Ability to understand complex application data flows and bridge the gap between technical and business app requirements.

  • Track record of implementing the cloud best practices (provisioning, deployment, monitoring using AGILE / DevOps methodologies and tools) for enterprises customer.

  • Executive speaking and presentation skills – Formal presentations, white boarding, large and small group presentations.

  • Strong written communication skills as well as a proven track record of writing clear process and technical documentation
