The Opportunity

This position works out of our Des Plaines, IL Office. Abbott Molecular is a leader in molecular diagnostics and the analysis of DNA, RNA, and proteins at the molecular level.

The Senior Manager Technical Support will manage a staff of scientists and engineers that support Alinity m expansion. The technical leadership role will support biologics and microparticle process development and formulation improvements. The role supports current Alinity Lyophilization (LYO) Amplification lot size improvements, expansion of the MDx LYO facilities and capacity expansion. The technical team will lead projects that will improve manufacturing capacity as well as automation throughput with filling, sealing, and pouching equipment for a continuous end to end process.

The Senior Manager Technical Support will manage a staff of direct reports and support On-Market Design Changes, Supplier Notifications, Manufacturing and Supply Chain Disruptions, CAPA Investigations, support both CAPA & Material Review Boards, and Regulatory Support – Providing Technical Justification for Submissions and Product Reviews; State of the Start and Literature Reviews.

The Sr. Manager Technical Support will work in close cooperation with R&D functions and liaison with Manufacturing, Design QA, MQA, and QC.

The Sr. Manager Technical Support will facilitate the integration of scientific, regulatory, marketing, compliance and customer support and operational activities for Molecular Dx on-market product families and/or key processes. Aligns activities to achieve performance and financial goals across assay platforms and business areas. Demonstrates resourcefulness in accomplishing objectives. Communicates area business strategy and divisional goals.

What You’ll Work On

  • Technical Knowledge: Develop and apply operations/ product/ process knowledge to (area of support). Use sound judgment and appropriate scientific methods and thorough data analysis.

  • Communication/Leadership: Communicates problem resolution across teams to minimize potential reoccurrences.

  • Demonstrates fiscal responsibility through actionable recommendations and accomplishments such as maintaining product availability and improvements in product sustainability.

  • Aligns resources with strategic business priorities.

  • Identifies/communicates to other areas in the division implications of relevant scientific observations.

  • Conceives, plans, and executes projects related to the strategic needs of the division.

  • Ensures effective GMP/ISO practices across teams to achieve divisional and FDA compliance.

  • Makes timely scientific; operational; and business decisions with high risk or consequence to a business area.

  • Applies advance scientific knowledge to projects.

  • Trains others in their operation.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with typically 10+ years of experience in a related technical discipline and/or equivalent training and experience.

  • Required experience includes proficiency in resource planning, budgetary management and personnel administration.

  • Highly desirable experience includes identification and implementation of business strategies for issues related to manufacturing, suppliers, commercial operations,

  • Uses technical knowledge to acquire, analyze and interpret data.

  • Computer and data management skills.

  • Managed / lead multiple expanded investigations applying six sigma tools for root cause identification.

Preferred:

  • Advanced degree(s) may offset required years of experience. Masters or PhD in Life Sciences (Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Chemistry) is preferred.

  • At least 5 or more years managing others in a similar environment

  • At least 3 or more years supporting CAPA and Regulatory functions.

  • Statistical Analysis tools experience for data analysis: SQL, R, Python, JMP. Power BI, Tableau.

The base pay for this position is $125,300.00 – $250,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
