Within CO+I, the Cloud Innovation Services & Solutions team is responsible for delivering solutions and services that enable reliable cloud growth and operational excellence, including end to end program management, security, risk and governance, planning, learning and development and sustainability.  

The Sustainability & ESG team focuses on driving CO+I performance in alignment to the existing corporate-wide commitments, establishing preferred CO+I sustainability datacenter public policies and whitepapers and preparing for and managing Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) requirements, and ensuring timely and accurate disclosure.

We are seeking an Environmental Social and Governance ( ESG) Data Senior Manager to support CO+I’s ESG data management effort in collaboration with the ESG Foresight & Planning, Reporting and Operational Integration teams, as well as data owners across the organisation.

As part of this team, you will collaborate across a broad set of stakeholders within CO+I and Microsoft. You will support the design of ESG Data Management governance processes, draft data protocols for streamlined data collection across the organization, assess data and methodologies for gaps, inconsistencies, improved accuracy and availability with a focus on cross-functional relationships and company-wide alignment.

You are excited about empowering CO+I with the necessary ESG data insights to support fast and targeted decision-making for performance and impact, timely and accurate disclosure and drive data accountability across the organization to help translate ESG requirements into a compete opportunity. You are adept at working in a multi-stakeholder, multi-background environment, building enduring trusted relationships and efficiently influencing with limited control. You work effectively with executives, engineering and operations, focusing on crisp and actionable communication, and bring a strategic data perspective, supporting the team by innovating. You have been successful working within a matrixed organizational structure where you lead through influence and teamwork.  

  

Success in this role means CO+I has ESG data that is robust, accurate, consistent and is easily available at the right level of granularity following the required methodologies and easily flows through an end-to-end ESG data management process that reduces the burden on data owners across the organization and is constantly revisited for opportunities to automate and rapidly scale to meet customer, policymaker and investor ESG data expectations and you empower the ESG reporting team with quality data that supports Microsoft’s ESG leadership position.

This position requires data management and analytics, leadership, strategic planning, and project management skills. The ESG Data Senior Manager, will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the organization's ESG efforts and play a key role in supporting Microsoft’s ability to meet policymakers, customers, investors and industry ESG expectations.

  • This role is located either in one or all hub locations - Atlanta, GA, Redmond, WA, San Antonio, TX or Phoenix, AZ.

  • Relocation support will be provided, and successful candidates are required to ​relocate or reside within 50 miles of the hub office location.

  • This role is eligible for hybrid or remote work, up to 100%.

Responsibilities

  • ESG Data Governance Management : Establish data governance structures and protocols to ensure proper management, security, and compliance of ESG data​

  • Data Integrity Practices : Implement and uphold practices to maintain the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of ESG data throughout the collection process​

  • ESG Data Validation : Conduct cohesive validation procedures to verify the quality, accuracy, reliability, completeness and consistency of ESG data inputs and outputs and remediate data quality issues together with data owners.​

  • Data Collection System Development : Develop and refine tools for effectively gathering ESG data from diverse sources within the organization's datacenter fleet (e.g. creation and maintenance of a clean, consistent and complete ESG data lake)​; Define standardized tools for collecting data and improving automation. Provide interfaces and a general overview of the technology infrastructure in collaboration with the engineering team. Ensure auditability and traceability through defined data lineage and logging​

  • Support Improvement : Support automation and development of data interfaces​; Assess data gaps and recommend remedy actions, incl. roadmaps for additional telemetry or resourcing across the organisation (in partnership with data owners); Increase the traceability and transparency of ESG data via the system (audit trail) ​

  • ESG Data Analysis and Insights : Analyze ESG data to identify trends, patterns, and key performance indicators, and visualize findings for reporting. Provide actionable insights derived from ESG data to support informed decision-making and strategic planning within fleet operations​

  • Data Collection Coordination : Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure accurate, timely and comprehensive collection of required data;

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Prepare content for senior management review and approval, communicate progress & performance and share insights from ESG data initiatives 

Qualifications

Required *Qualifications: *

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 3+ years experience in corporate social responsibility, philanthropies, corporate affairs, or related area

  • OR 5+ years experience in corporate social responsibility, philanthropies, corporate affairs, or related area.

  • 6+ months experience with written, presentation, and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively and concisely with stakeholders and leaders about ESG data management objectives and priorities, governance, analytics, gaps and remedies

  • 6+ months experience with Microsoft Office suite of products, Microsoft Azure, Fabric, Excel, Power BI, Power Point, Teams, Copilot.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications : *  *

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 7+ years experience in corporate social responsibility, philanthropies, corporate affairs, or related area

  • OR 10+ years experience in corporate social responsibility, philanthropies, corporate affairs, or related area.

  • Proficient in 3rd party software, such as Enablon

  • Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP)

  • Further data management certifications (CISA, Certified Azure Data Engineer Associate, CIPP) are an advantage

  • Certified Azure Data Scientist Associate

  • Further data analytics certifications (CAP, CDS) are an advantage

  • Demonstrated track record of creating innovative approaches to data management and governance

  • Demonstrated track record of impact on a global data program with clear targets and milestones

  • Analytical and creative problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data and surface insights to make informed decisions

Corporate Social Responsibility IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $101,200 - $194,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $130,000 - $213,200 per year.
